Instead of granting extra Build Points (BP) during character creation disadvantages now grant bonus Karma during game play. When a character's disadvantage becomes a liability or causes a complication during the adventure the character gains 1-2 bonus Karma. If the complication that occurs as a result of the disadvantage impacts the entire group then the all characters in the group will earn 1-2 bonus Karma at the conclusion of the adventure. The more severe (higher BP value) the disadvantage the greater the likelihood that it will arise during game play.
